Fixed flange
Bolted onto a faceplate, this towbar will be a permanent fixture of your car and is ideal for towing heavy loads. You can even tow and carry bikes at the same time. A popular option, and the most affordable - ideal for commercial use.
Detachable flange
You get all the benefits and robustness of the fixed flange, with the bonus of being able to remove it. Towing couplings and accessories can be fitted to this towbar.
Fixed swan neck
The swan neck is definitely the more visually appealing option, being less bulky than the flange towbar. It's less likely to set off parking sensors, although you won't be able to tow and carry bikes at the same time. Ideal for private clients.
Detachable swan neck
The neat design of the swan neck just got even neater, with the ability to detach the towbar when not in use. Swan necks are ideal for caravans, trailers and cycle carriers and are compatible with ALKO stabilisers.
Towbar electrics - universal or dedicated wiring kits?
Wondering what towbar electrics actually do? In a nutshell, they connect your car's wiring system to the electric system of your caravan, trailer or cycle rack. Towbar electrics are a requirement by law. Universal and dedicated kits are available, but at Copthorne we recommend the latter. Why? Because they interact with the built-in safety features of your vehicle whilst you are towing - a potentially lifesaving feature that is powering their increasing popularity with Britain's drivers. This just leaves the decision as to what type of electrics to opt for.
Single electrics
Powers the rear lights of the caravan/item being towed. Can be used with almost anything that it's possible to tow!
Twin electrics
Does the same as the single electrics option, except twin electrics allows you to power the interior appliances of a caravan, such as the fridge or battery.
13pin electrics
This most modern option provides power to all exterior and interior elements of your caravan, trailer or cycle carrier. The recommended choice.
